Among 20 bug fixes and a security fix, WordPress 2.3.1 adds several new things for users of Windows Live Writer. First, it adds tags support (which means I can actually use them now. Second, it changes the links on the side, now giving “View Site,” “Dashboard,” and “Manage Comments” links (before it was “View Blog” and “Manage Blog,” [which I thought meant within WLW]). Anyway, I’m happier now.

Windows Live Writer 2

It’s kind of hard to describe just how amazing this is now. Inline spell checking (thank god ;) ), tables (I wouldn’t really use those, but still), better support for properties, and more WordPress features. Aside from that, the UI is a lot better, and the layout is much more… flowing.

Screenshot 2. Web Preview mode, doesn’t allow typing, but lets you see what it’ll look like. Notice how it adds the post title to the “Recent Posts” section.
